On
the 26. 4. 1999 we went to
see UB40
in concert here in Vienna. Though the evening started off awkwardly (a
few problems with the seating arrangements etc.), the group proved worth
the hassles. |
|
First
of all they sang a couple of their new songs from the "Labour of Love III",
among them "The train is coming" and " Come back Darling" but neither did
they leave out classics, such as "Red, red wine", "Rat in the kitchen"
or "Cherry oh Baby". The hall was rocking, well reggaeing with every single
tune. |
Unfortunately
they did not perform long enough, even though they came back out to finish
the night off with some more of their hits from the 80s. Despite every
single member in that band being multitalented and able to play at least
one instrument and sing, setting UB40 apart from other groups in pop music
- or even reggae -, Ali Campbell is still the best suited leading vocal,
since in our opinion he's got a unique voice and a lovely style. |
