This group consists of three sisters and one brother. Andrea Jane Corr, vocals, was born May 17th 1974, James Steven Corr, guitar/keyboards/vocals born July 31st 1968, Sharon Corr, violin/vocals born March 24th1970 and Caroline Corr, drums/bodhran/vocals, born March 17th1973 were all born in Dundalk Co Louth, Ireland. The group's big breakthrough came in 1990 when they were discovered by John Hughes who at the time was looking for musicians to appear in Allan Parker's film "The Commitments" (Andrea Corr actually played a cameo role in the film). After the film's release they continued to play at several venues in Ireland and it was at one of those gigs that they were seen by the US Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith who invited them to play at the World Cup Celebrations in Boston, U.S.A. During their trip to America they met senior vice president of Atlantic records, Jason Flom, and record producer David Foster who told them that if they were to give them marks out of 10 for their performance they would give them 10 and a half, after hearing them. Needless to say they were quickly signed to the record label.

1995 was a year when the group spent most of their time in the studio with David Foster working on their debut album. In January 1996 they released their opening work and the entitled "Forgiven Not Forgotten" which featured six instrumental tracks reached #168 in the US charts. In the UK the album fared better and in the first week went up to number 36. After receiving The Best New Irish Act Award the same year the band made their US concert debut as the opening act for Celine Dion. This year proved to be a big touring year and not only did they appear in America but they also undertook a European tour where they played in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Holland and the U.K. Evita, the movie premier was also released in this year and Andrea Corr once again showed her versatility by starring as Juan Peron's lover in the film.

Performing in front of live audiences plays a big part in most musician's lives and The Corrs are no exception to that rule as they proved in 1997 when they toured Australia. Not only did they tour, but they also found the time to put together and record their next album. The record "Talk On Corners" was an album that included versions of Stevie Nicks' "Dreams" and Jimi Hendrix' "Little Wing". This new project proved to be more successful than their debut work and entered the U.K charts at number 7. After once again touring Europe and picking up an award for Best International Act, they rounded the year off by playing in front of Pope John Paul II at the Vatican Christmas Concert.

April 1998 saw the group release their third album Legacy: A Tribute To Fleetwood Mac and aptly enough the man mentioned here namely Mick Fleetwood played drums on the groups version of "Dreams". For a virtually new band, they certainly have rubbed shoulders with the stars of the music industry and in this year alone performed with Rod Stewart, Sinead O'Connor, Luciano Pavaroti and were also the opening act for The Rolling Stones in Czechoslovakia. Andrea Corr's voice was also heard again on a film soundtrack, this time for the animated movie "Quest For Camelot". No matter how successful a group is sponsorship always helps and I dare say the rumoured 500.000 pounds that they received from Britvic for advertising and promoting pepsi for the following year must certainly have been a nice pay day. For an outfit that hasn't been on the scene that long they certainly have squeezed a lot into their careers and have duly received recognition for their efforts. That was once again shown when they received the awards for Best Popular Artist in Dublin and honoured in Spain for their album "Talking On Corners".

During 1999 The Corrs continued touring and once again accompanied The Rolling Stones on tour in America. The band also lined up with a star studded line up for the Net Aid concert which took place in Wembley Stadium, U.K., where I was privileged to see them in action.
Unfortunately, the family was struck down with tragedy last November when their mother died while waiting for a lung transplant. Since then they have recorded their latest album and dedicated it to their late mother. They wrote the song "No More Crying" for another family member, this time their father, to try and help him to come to terms with the loss of his wife.
