   Ultravox switch record labels to Chraysalis and replace lead singer John Foxx with Midge Ure.


   Johnny Kidd and the Pirates finally call it a day and disband after reforming as a "three piece unit" in 1977. Although they seem to still be in demand by the fans they lose their record deal after two albums and decide enough is enough.


   The top spot in the American charts is taken over by the band "Blondie" who stay rooted to it for the entire month with the single "Call Me". The single also hits the top spot in England.


   Other artists flying high in the charts include Hot Chocolate ( No Doubt About It) Lips inc (Funky Town) Johnny Logan (Just Another Year) and Dexy's Midnight Runners with (Geno).





.... 10 YEARS AGO ....




   a couple of Aussie soap stars were enjoying music success. Neighbours' Kylie Minogue has a hit with "Hand On Your Heart" whilst co-star Jason Donovan was at the top of the U.K album charts with "Ten Good Reasons".


   the world says goodbye to top country star Keith Whitely. He dies at the young age of 33 through alcohol abuse.


   The Rolling Stones are rumoured to be going on tour in September with possible support acts being either INXS, Living Colours or Guns and Roses. Anyone know this to be proven true?


   Ringo Starr announces a U.S tour whilst Bob Dylan surprises the audience during his U.K tour when he is joined on stage by Bono from U2.


   The Who add more dates to their concert as the tickets for their Radio City Benefit performance of "Tommy" sell out in 4 hours.


   Cliff Richard releases his 100th single of his career entitled "The Best Of Me".
