It seems a long time ago since Michael Jackson first found fame and fortune with his brothers and The Jackson Five under Motown, with him being the little central figure in the band. Since those days his career has gone from strength to strength.

"Off The Wall" in 1979 proved to be a successful solo album for Michael, but nothing much in comparison to what was to follow. "Thriller" is probably an album that just about everyone has heard of and presented Michael Jackson with no less than 7 American Music Awards in January 1984. As if that wasn't enough, a month later he won another 8 Grammies for this masterpiece of music. The singles from the album also proved to become massive hits, not to forget the videos which were put to "Billy Jean" and "Beat It". The video for "Thriller" was more like a horror film and musical, all rolled into one, which cost an enormous amount of money worth the end results, breaking just about all selling records.

In September 1984 he went back on tour with his brothers and donated his earnings from the tour to charity. In November of the same year he was awarded a star with his name on it on the "Walk of Fame" on Hollywood Boulevard. He continued his work for charity when him and Lionel Richie put all their talents together and wrote the song "We Are The World". All royalties were donated to the charity project for the famine tragedy in Africa. Various well-known artists took part in the recording, such as Bruce Springsteen and Diana Ross, and the song became yet another instant hit.

In 1987 Michael Jackson brought out the album "Bad" and promoted it with a world tour, sponsored by Pepsi Cola. Although he was still enjoying musical success, he was plagued with attacks on his private life. True or false, the fact remains that he's a top performer and a master of his trade.
In late 1988 he bought out the video "Moonwalker", which was kind of futuristic and showed aspects of his own life. The song "Speed Demon" hit out at the press for their intrusion into his privacy.
1991 he brought out "Dangerous", but seemingly had enormous problems with his own physical appearance which was constantly changing. He even gave a rare interview to Oprah Winfrey in 1993 to try and clear his strange image. The same year he was also accused of child abuse in America and settled out of court.

To say that his personal life, especially in the 90s, was of great interest to the world is an understatement. His marriage to Lisa Marie Presley in 1994 didn't last either and in 1996 he married yet again, this time his doc's assistant Deborah Rowe. He now has 2 children from this marriage.

Another album, released in 1995, was "HIStory", which was a mixture of old and new hits, followed by the latest album "The Blood On The Dance Floor".

Last month he performed a concert in Munich in aid of the children of Kosovo. Unfortunately one of his many dangerous stunts at the show didn't go according to plan, to say the least. A bridge he was performing on crashed to the ground with rapid speed, instead of softly landing back on stage, but Michael kept on performing. Although he was taken to hospital, his injuries were luckily only minor, compared to the severity of the accident.
